Hermosa Creek Challenge

The Hermosa Creek Challenge is on Saturday August 1st. I hope to do okay after a so-so racing year thus far. http://cycling.fortlewis.edu It is a 38 mile point-to-point mountain bike race. I will be running the single speed 29er with probably a 32x20. Some good climbing in this one.

Durango Century

This weekend is the Durango Century. Went down at 30+mph on this ride last year at mile 25 due to a lack of awareness on the pelotons part to call out a fist sized rock that I hit. I managed to get up and finish the ride by myself in 5 1/2 hours.

Bear Creek Beatdown

The Beat down went down this past Saturday in the Rico area. The route was to be a 90 mile ride with upwards to 18k of climbing. Turns out we stopped at the 51 mile mark after riding the Calico side that took three of us 9 hours to complete. The hike-a-bike was awful. 8 racers started and 5 completed the first 51 miles. Or as it turn out we actually rode 71 miles including the ride back to the Redburn Ranch where we camped and had a post-race barbecue. The first 50 miles included the 13 mile ride up Taylor Creek Road, to Priest, Calico trail to West Fall, Winter Trail, back up Calico and all the way back to Wildcat and descend Wildcat. That in itself was a beat down. Wow!!!

Calico Trail Ride

Firecracker 50 Update

A little late but the Firecracker 50 was an awesome event. Great support on the course by race staff and volunteers. I placed 16th out of 29 who finished in the singlespeed class. Some fast folks out there. 750 racers showed up for this one.

Enjoying some post race beers.

Firecracker 50

This July 4th I'm heading to Breckenridge to race the Firecracker 50. It's a new venue I have never been too so I'm pretty excited to race it. 50 miles and 10,800 feet of climbing.
